I'm not sure, but this may be one use of RFID devices. Of course, privacy
advocates squirm at the idea of every motor vehicle having one of these for
the potential of abuse, but it would give your car a unique code. This
would be more accurate than, "in persuit of 1999 Mazda." This device would
be too simple, and bring every Mazda on the freeway to a grinding halt. If
the officer entered Mass. reg. AB 1234, the DMV would find which car has
that plate, as with an ordinary stop, get the VIN and the RFID code, and
that could work on that and only that car, not through EMP, but an ordinary
RF signal with that car's unique code to shut it down. EMP would fry every
semiconductor in range- diodes, transistors, FETs, and all computer chips.
You're screwed if they used that device on the Central Artery while passing
your building- thousands of computers down and millions of dollars lost for
one traffic stop.
