If I'd stayed in my bucolic home town, I'd probably have joined the volunteer Fire Dept.

Before I got into Ham Radio (after being in remission after first exposure 20 years) via short wave, I was a hobby printer, on www.MuseumOfPrinting.org 's board and web and collections commitees, www.GBCACM.org 's local professional development seminars commitee, historical gamer, and amateur journalist.  If I weren't doing those still, I'd likely be doing photography again, web stuff, or model railroads.
