Ummm... not sure I fully understand .. but .. I *think* that you only need a
computer with a firewire port .. not a computer with a firewire DVD or CD
dirve .. or ..  re-reading your message I'm still not sure .. which way do
you need to transfer the software? from someones elses external DVD/CD
(using your disk) into your computer? You say you want to "...plug my box
into your drive.." that seems to say you want to write software to a CD via
firewire.
