[BARC-List] got a firewire CD or DVD drive?

I'm in a sort of catch 22. I need to install some new software into a device 
via a firewire port. The new software enables the on-board DVD drive :-/ If you 
have a firewire DVD or CD drive, can I come plug my box into your drive and
