Sorry for the multiples. This is apparently collateral damage from updating my
firewall.

My email program told me it hadn't sent the messages due to lack of ACK from
host. The host apparently sent it, but dropped the ACK when my firewall
blocked an IDENT. So it stayed queued while I debugged the IDENT issue.  I
guess SMTP doesn't use two-phase commit ;-)
