Hi Ed,
Well, as the ScQRPion Club station operator of KQ7RP, I will be sending CQ
FYBO and if memory serves me correctly, last year that is what we all sent.
It keeps the contests apart without confusion.
This weekend, I will be preparing a "Plan of attack" schedule and operating
tips for new comers and ol' timers as well regarding this contest and
contesting in general for those who might be making this their first effort
into QRP or contesting. I'll try not to bore/boar everyone to death. ;>)
CULOTR= See you later on the reflector.

Subject: [QRP-L] FYBO
Fellow QRP'ers. I'm planning on operating in the upcoming FYBO contest; it
sounds like fun. But what do I listen for? 'CQ FYBO'? That's a long CQ,
and it could also be mistaken for FY6O in French Guiana. I'd hate to get
someone all excited only to find out he's talking to this nut sitting in the
woods by himself - in the snow - freezing his butt off. So that's not a
good idea. How about 'CQ TEST'? Which 'test'? There are so many contests
on a weekend, I might wind up in the wrong contest. 'CQ QRP'? Possibly,
but it really doesn't indicate a contest station. So tell me, how DO you
identify yourself as an FYBO'er? I don't want to wait until the actual day
to find out, because I may be freezing my Brain off instead of my Butt.
(I've been accused of getting the two confused.)

ed - k9ew
