Kenwood Communications has come through for the W7ASC station once=0D
again! Charlotte Horwitz approached the Kenwood representatives at the=0D
Ft. Tuthill Hamfest and told them that our Yaesu 990 HF rigs were=0D
experiencing some major problems and that both of them were currently=0D
out of commission. Kenwood responded quickly by sending us a new HF=0D
rig, the 570 SG which covers all the HF bands and 6 meters. This radio=0D
also has a built in antenna tuner. Our deepest appreciation goes out=0D
to Kenwood for their continued support of the Center for Amateur Radio=0D
Learning in the Arizona Science Center.=0D

W7ASC is planning on setting up a 2 meter standby group so that=0D
volunteers at the Shack can contact Hams when visitors are in the=0D
shack. The "Volunteer at Home" project helps in this, but we would=0D
like to have a frequency or frequencies available to monitor. The=0D
Scottsdale Radio Club has said that W7ASC Volunteers can monitor and=0D
use their clubs repeater on 147.180 (PL 162.2) for this purpose. We=0D
have not checked on the range of this repeater over the metro Phoenix=0D
area yet. We thank the Scottsdale club for their support of this=0D
project. It should work out if we can get volunteers to monitor 147.18=0D
and other frequencies (to be set up), during their free time when they=0D
are on the road or around their ham shacks.=0D
=0D
Some other repeaters that W7ASC has used with "Hams on the Road"=0D
include 147.360, 147.30, and 147.12.=0D
=0D
Additional "Ham" volunteers are needed for the W7ASC Ham Shack.=0D
Contact Bob, KG7QJ at 480-961-1109 or [email protected] if you are=0D
interested. To be a Volunteer from Home contact Char Horwitz, KB7TKQ=0D
at 602-896-8813 or [email protected].=0D
