Some things you have not said that might be important....

Are these channels programmed with frequencies that are either at the
upper or lower edge of the band?

Do you have any S-meter bars for these channels?

If you unsquelch, do you get the busy light?

Have you tried to reprogram that channel with a frequency that "works"
and again with the one that doesn't?

Can you be assured that your signal generator is EXACTLY on the frequency
displayed?  The Azden does have a quirk in that you will get this type of
indication if the received RF is not at the center of the bandpass filter
in the receiver.  This is especially true if the receive frequency is
about 3 kHz off that indicated.

Caveat.....  this is a common problem with the 7000 (2 Meter set).  I'm
more familiar with that model.

Please verify the following:  If you have an antenna connected and you
unsquelch, you have no hiss....  but, if you remove the antenna in this
configuration, the hiss returns.
