Have you a microphone?  If so, I have an alternative method.

The idea is to make the cable from the TNC as follows.  Standard 1/8 inch
connection to the speaker jack in the rear of the set.  Terminate the
transmit audio line/PTT with a miniature stereo plug.  

Then, open the microphone and find a convenient place to mount a
miniature stereo jack.  Wire the jack to the ground-PTT-tx audio points
within the microphone.  Reassemble the microphone.

To use the set for packet, plug the mono plug into the speaker output,
and the stereo plug into the microphone.

All done, to use the set for voice, remove the plugs.
