Successful ARISS in Oklahoma Section!
February 7, 2006
by John Thomason-WB5SYT
Oklahoma Section Manager

The ISS was on cue as was the science students from Dale Public Schools!
A very successful Amateur Radio demonstration was completed this morning.
The 9th grade science students were able to have good dialogue with the ISS
and clearly displayed the magic of Amateur Radio and how it plays into science
and technology. The Amateur Radio effort was orchestrated by Ron
Cochrane-KD5GEZ. Principal Harold Jones was elated with the Amateur Radio
accomplishment and feels it was a highly positive experience for this school. The Dale
School, which is near Oklahoma City, held a school wide assembly for all
students and faculty and included many parents. The assembly was buzzing with
excitement when the call for NA1SS was successfully answered. Thanks to Keith
Pugh-W5IU ARISS mentor for his support and presence. Also in attendance were
Coy-N5OK, West Gulf Division Director, John Thomason-WB5SYT Oklahoma Section
Manager and Joe Lynch-N6CL Past Oklahoma Section Manager. Several
electronic and printed media representatives were a part of the event.
