A properly formatted and distributed Amber Alert spans multiple zip
codes. For example, I got an Amber Alert and its cancellation the other
night. The abduction was from KS. However, LEO sent the alert to a
wide area, including at least one of the Zip Codes I had listed.

Using Zip Codes is a logical method for the Citizen to get the alert
they require and helps me not get distracted from alerts two states away.

BTW, the KS Amber Alert resulted in the recovery of the child.
