WEST GULF DIVISION CONVENTION/HAM-COM 2004

Take time to pre-register now!  It'll be here before you know it.  As
part of the Division program, our ARRL president Jim Haynie, W5JBP, and
the FCC's Special Councel for Amateur Radio Enforcement Riley
Hollingsworth, K4ZDH will discuss amateur radio issues including license
restructuring and BPL.

HAM-COM 2004 SCHEDULE

The complete event schedule for Ham-Com 2004 is now available on-line
via <http://www.hamcom.org/pdfs/HamComFlyer.pdf>. Be sure to check
<http://www.hamcom.org/> for the latest information about the event.

You can pre-register on-line and save money through June 4, 2004. The
pre-registration prize is the Alinco 620 50/35 Watt dual-band mobile
radio. Two grand prizes will be awarded this year: The Icom IC706-MKIIG
and the Yaesu FT-857 HF/VHF/UHF multi-mode transceivers. 

Ham-Com 2004 features major Amateur Radio interest tracks including
APRS, DX, education, emergency communications (EmComm), microwave, QRP,
satellite and weather. Guest speakers, workshops and activities at the
Convention Center in Arlington, TX total over 100 hours for the
two-day
event. 

The DX community will present new programs on the Logbook of the World,
OJ0, Project Goodwill ZA1A and a special DX panel on Saturday, June 19,
2004. The DX luncheon topic is 3B9C, Rodriguez Island.

Feature events include:

- A special one-day Radio Merit Badge program for Boy Scouts of America,
sessions on how to use the ARRL's "Big Project" educational materials.

- New topics from the National Weather Service including advanced
SKYWARN.

- Wide-ranging programs covering APRS, microwave and HSMM.

- Vendor product presentations.

- Conferences for ARES, MARS, Texas VHF Society and other groups. 

A number of programs are repeated during the two-day event. One look at
this year's schedule will tell you that this event is worth your time to
attend. See you there!
