New Head of Oklahoma ARES Introduced at Ham Holiday

At Ham Holiday Hamfest, which took place in Oklahoma City July 16-17, ARRL
Oklahoma Section Manager John Thomason WB5SYT introduced to Oklahoma hams to
the new Oklahoma Section Emergency Coordinator.
Lucien Jones KD5LPV is your new Oklahoma Section EC and was recommended
highly by the retiring Oklahoma Section Emergency Coordinator John Turner
KA7GLA.

Thomanson told members at the ARRL forum that, "Jones brings a great deal of
emergency service experience, written and presentation skill, served agency
networking success and emergency communication training completion".
Thomason also added "Thank you Lucien for your efforts as the Section
anticipates solid management of our emergency communication service. The
importance of this aspect of the ARRL Field organization cannot be
overstated. The citizens of Oklahoma deserve the best Amateur Radio can
give. Please give Lucien your highest level of cooperation and
availability-good things will happen! You will find Lucien Jones KD5LPV to
be approachable and informed."

Thomason also thanked John Turner-KA7GLA for his years of service as
Oklahoma Section Emergency Coordinator. Turner worked tirelessly to make the
system workable and responsive. He developed a quality understanding of the
people and system pertinent to emergency communication in Oklahoma; no
simple task. Turner has put in more hours weekly than most realize to make a
positive difference.

"John's (Turner) commitment to service to the ARRL Field Organization and
ultimately to the population of Oklahoma is noted and so much appreciated",
stated Thomason.
