(SATERN) and Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) conference slated for=20
Saturday, February 21, 2004, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The Salvation Army Oklahoma=

Citadel Corps Community Center, located at 2808 SE 44th Street in Oklahoma C=

is the site for the joint conference.=20

Dan Miller, K3UFG, is the ARRL emergency communications course, grant=20
manager. Miller oversees all aspects of the League's emergency communication=
s courses=20
from his office at League Headquarters in Newington, Connecticut. He has a=20
deep-rooted interest in local and national emergency communications activiti=
es=20
and has presented training seminars throughout the country. The ARRL=20
presentation includes background information, group discussion of multiple d=
isaster=20
scenarios, as well as testimony from emergency communications leaders, ARECC=
=20
mentors, and students. There will be an open discussion regarding the ARRL=20
emergency communications courses and a final quiz to determine personal prep=
aredness.
Guest speaker, Andrew McGregor, N7XYQ, of Colorado, is a nationally respecte=
d=20
expert and practitioner in amateur radio. An active amateur radio operator,=20
McGregor has supported search and rescue teams in Colorado emergency service=
s=20
for 16 years. He teaches a two day, no-code class to emergency managers and=20
professional firefighters in the Colorado Rockies where communications are m=
ost=20
difficult. His model for large-scale searches using volunteers has caught th=
e=20
eye of professional managers, Homeland Security experts, and the media.
McGregor has appeared on Larry King, Good Morning America, MSNBC, CBS, CNN,=20
ABC World Evening News, and many newspapers and radio talk shows. He chronic=
led=20
the search effort for Elizabeth Smart in his book Ten Days In Utah: The=20
Search For Elizabeth Smart. The book extols the amateur radio operators who=20
