OKLAHOMA GOVERNOR HENRY
PROCLAIMS NOVEMBER 9 - 15, 2003
"AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS WEEK"

Tulsa, OK -- The ARRL - the national association for amateur radio, and all
Oklahoma amateur radio operators who are dedicated to public service - were
recognized this week for their service to their communities. The
proclamation from Oklahoma's Governor Brad Henry proclaimed November 9 - 15,
2003, as Amateur Radio Operators Week. Governor Henry recognized amateur
radio operators' "vital supplemental communications to their communities
during times of national disasters, in local emergencies and at public
events."

The highlight of amateur radio operators week will be a special event
(amateur radio) station, operating from Guthrie, Oklahoma, which is the site
of the first capitol of the state of Oklahoma.

Today there are more than 8,700 Amateur Radio operators in Oklahoma, over
700,000 in the United States and more than 2.5 million worldwide.
