Fuel Tanker Explodes Near Glenpool; Highway 75 Closed=20

Glenpool, Oklahoma- Highway 75 near Glenpool is closed after an =
explosion rocked the area Monday night when one fuel storage tank in the =
ConocoPhillips tank farm exploded, sending flames 100 feet in the air.=20

The tank has now imploded and families in the area are being evacuated.

It happened at about nine o'clock near 121st Street South and Highway =
75. It's believed the explosion happened as diesel fuel was being =
transferred from one tank to another. A spark from static electricity =
might have caused the explosion.

We're told the tank belongs to ConocoPhillips and that all workers are =
accounted for. A spokesperson for ConocoPhillips says workers were =
trying to transfer nearly 84-hundred barrels of diesel fuel into the =
tank when it exploded. We're told there are 31 tanks in that area, which =
hold more than three million barrels of diesel fuel.

Highway 75 near the exploded tanker was shut down, possibly because of =
the amount of traffic brought to the area by people wanting to see what =
happened.

Right now, there is only one tank on fire and the wind, blowing from =
north to south, is blowing the fire away from the other tanks, but =
toward homes in the area. The residents in the area have evacuated and =
all are said to be safe.

The Red Cross has been dispatched to help the displaced families.

Fire crews from Glenpool, Kiefer, Liberty and Tulsa are on the scene =
battling the fire, which could take a long time to bring under control.=20
