I bought a pre-owned Kenwood TM241A two meter synthesized transceiver.
The transmitter does not work, but I only bought this radio for its receive capability.
If I bring this radio to the next AReU meeting along with the 60 page service manual (includes schematics)
is there some kind person who will be present at the next meeting (Tuesday, September 4th) who would be willing to show me how to make a carrier-operated relay for this radio?
I would like the carrier operated relay to also activate when CTCSS is activated.
This radio is to be used as the receiver for a repeater.
I have built some CORs in the past by tapping into the circuit as the Magic Location where the voltage goes high when squelch is broken.
The Magic Location is further defined as a place where a little current can be drawn without decresing sensitivity of the receiver.
If someone can point to this spot on the circuit board and help me solder a wire to it, I can do the rest.
What I have done in the past is to run the wire from the Magic Location through a suitable resistor to the base of a 2N2222 transistor -
Ground the emitter of the 2N2222, and wire the collector to the coil of a relay.
If anyone wants to volunteer to help me find the Magic Spot on my radio, or tell me some other good way to make a COR, this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
