Another good meeting on a night rainy night.
AReU meeting for November 1, 2005

Well, if you weren't there, you missed it.

Professor Ron, KA4INM, gave a very good informative lecture on
antenna fundamentals.  He also had a home-brew 2 meter full wave
vertical that he showed and explained.  For those of you who
don't know Ron, he is the one responsible for keeping channel 44
on the air and beaming all of those good scary movies into our
homes during the past Halloween.  Thanks for a great
presentation once again Ron.

Anyone interested in any 10-12 foot satellite dishes?  I
happened to bump into someone who has three of them laying in
his back yard.  When asked what he has going to do with them he
said he was going to take them down to the scrap metal dealer. 
He isn't a ham or electronically oriented.  Two of them are the
black fixed aluminum net style and one is a heavy duty brushed
aluminum net fully support braced, tracking model.  If anyone is
into satellite communications and has an interest in these
dishes give me a call and I will put you in contact with the
gentleman.  You could probably wheel and deal for a good

So, hope to see a few more of you fair weather AReU'rs at the
next meeting which will take place the Tuesday after the Tampa
Hamfest in Bradenton.  Maybe we will have some new treasure
acquisitions to discuss and ponder over!
