Many thanks to the folks that attended the AREU meeting last night.
There were 17 people present and all seemed to enjoy themselves.
We had a new face also. Wayne (KD8NC) was present to enjoy
the proceedings. Wayne is active on 2 meters SSB from Valrico
and I have had a few pleasant QSO's with him and others on this
portion of the band. Wayne was a microwave "rover" operator in
the Northeast and operated most all bands up to 2304 MHz. He was
specifically interested in our work on 1296 and 2304 MHz.
Maybe he will join us on these bands in the near future.

Ron (KA4INM) did some work on a 2 meter rig with his spectrum
analyzer. He confirmed that Ed's 2 meter radio was only getting output
on 1 frequency as it should. Evidently Ed had a report that he was
coming in on several repeaters at once. Needless to day, Ed was glad
it was not his radio at fault.

I sent a QSL cards to Ed (W7LGD) and one to Mike (W4UOO) for
a contact on 2.3041 GHz USB with a 5 by 9 signal report. I reported
running 250 microwatts. The other station was running 10 milliwatts.
They were certainly not power houses were they?

It was a memorable meeting and I really enjoyed myself. I was thinking
as I looked around the room at everyone "doing their thing" that this
is what ham radio is all about. Fellow hams having a good time with
other fellow hams.

Again, thanks to all that attended and we will be looking for you again
next month.

Tony
