Well tonight it looks like I will get my ATV transmitter up and running
about
net time. I will be transmitting on CABLE channel 59. I am located in
South East Brandon near the intersection of Blooming and Bell Shoals.
I will be running about 50 watts but I don't know how far the signal will
reach. I will be using a discone antenna which is a low gain unit but hope
to get 5 miles or so with it.

I will be transmitting in the 70 cm band so any UHF antenna that you would
use for FM or SSB contacts will work OK. The one problem with SSB
antennas are that they are usually horizontally polarized and my discone is
vertically polarized.

Just plug your 440 MHz antenna into the "F" connector of your cable ready
TV set and you will be ready to go.

Be aware that TV sets are not too sensitive so don't expect to much without
a preamplifier.

I will be listening on the net for signal reports.
