I received the projected attitude of the AO40 space craft yesterday and
have run the IT 1.5 tracking program to predict the AO40 pass for the
picnic.

For those not adept in reading the above data, the last column of numbers
are the most important to the quality of the signals from the satellite.
As the numbers get smaller, the signal gets better.
As you can see, the numbers do not get under 30 until after noon on
Saturday.
With the "squint" greater that 30 the signals will be marginal except for
CW.
Maybe we can make a few contacts on SSB later in the day. The beacon will
be copyable for almost all of the pass so at least you will get to hear
that.
I hope that my portable station will perform well enough that we can make a
few
contacts. I have not tried it out in it's entirety yet but the downlink
performs
well. I am using 20 watts into an 18 element cross polarized Yagi with
35 ft. of 1/2 inch Heliax on the uplink. This is the part of the system that
is
untested but according to my experience, it should perform fairly well.
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the picnic and sampling
some of the excellent food (it always tastes better outdoors).
