I have been working at getting the equipment together for Field Day this
evening so I thought I would take a break and invite everyone to join in
the fun.
We will start setting up at 2:00 PM Friday at the Field Day site at Davis
Park. Come on down to help if you feel the desire to sweat. We plan to
have plenty of water and Gatorade to quench your thirst. If you don't want
to participate in the sweaty endeavours, you could volunteer to operate
one of the stations. If you don't have HF privilidiges, or even a license,
the GOTA station is for you. Anyone can operate this station as long as a
licensed operator is around. There will be one there all the time.
If all else fails, be sure to make the picnic on Saturday starting at noon.
If
you think about it, bring a covered dish. If you don't bring a covered dish,
not to worry, we will not have the "cat of 9 tails" out. There will be
plenty
of hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings already there and
waiting for you.
Some of the activities will be:
HF phone station (40 through 10 meters)
HF CW station (80 through 10 meters)
FREE FOOD
GOTA station (80 thru 10 meters)
Packet (VHF FM)
APRS (VHF FM)
FREE FOOD
Amateur TV (fast scan) (UHF-439.25 MHz)
Satellite operations (AO40 and ISS)
6 Meters SSB
FREE FOOD
2 Meters SSB
70 cm SSB
Official Field Day activities start at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
If you don't know where it is then here are the directions.
>From the intersection of highway 60 and Parsons Ave. in Brandon, Go
North on Parsons until you get to the railroad tracks. After crossing the
tracks notice the tan stucco fence on the left side of the road. This is the
noise buffer for the Brandon Forest subdivision. When you reach the
Northern end of this fence you will see a sign for an antique shop on
your left. Just after this sign is the entrance to Davis Park. Take a left
into the park and go about 1/4 mile and look for the Field Day site on
your left. The site will be 100% occupied from Friday around 3:00 PM
until Sunday around 4:00 PM.
If you are coming in from the North just go south on Parsons Ave. past
Jersey and begin looking for the Davis Park sign on your right. If you
get to the railroad tracks just make a "bat turn" (that's a 180) and follow
the directions for a North bound entry above.
If you need assistance the Brandon machine will more that likely have
someone on the air to help you.
