When the Molex came out it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. No=
w,
the Anderson Power Pole has moved into the spotlight and for me, it adds =
the
butter to the sliced bread. Yes, it has a couple of drawbacks that keeps=
it
from being the perfect connector. But really, if we had a perfect anythi=
ng,
we wouldn't have anything to bitch about as is usually the largest part o=
f
being a ham. hihi=0D

I switched over to the Power Pole over four years ago right after giving =
a
presentation about the reliability of the Molex connector. Honest, it wa=
s
within a week after the presentation that I changed over. Currently, I a=
m
using the 75 amp on the batteries in my RV plus the battery pack that fee=
ds
the transmitters only. They are all fused between the Power Pole and the
battery. The cables that connect from battery to battery for the RV use 8
awg while the battery run for the transceivers use 10 awg.=0D

As I live full time in my 5th wheel portable radio shack, I have shown th=
e
connection to many many others from the RV users. While not waterproof, =
I
have used them for the DC power required for my screwdriver and have not =
had
any problem. The keep water away from them, I asked my pharmacist for a
couple of empty medicine bottles with the twist of lid as it is better
keeping the water out than the adults only medicine cap. Never had a lea=
k
nor a problem of any kind. I have the same set up but at a smaller gauge
for counting the revolutions of the screwdriver for auto tuning capabilit=

Part of the reason I use the rolled steel pins is because my equipment mu=
st
stand up to the constant vibration not experienced by those with permanen=
t
radio shacks at home, well, except for those in California.=0D

Not to push anyone to a particular distributor but I have found that www
powerwerx.com has the largest selection of connecters, OEM replacements,
red/black zipper from six awg up (or down if you prefer) plus many other
products that I was not aware of. They also offer the Power Pole in read=
y
made, independently fused panels ranging up to 10 connections if I rememb=
er
right.=0D
