Mark: 5544 would be the factory s/n, but should be L5544. Using Joe Baugher's data, the AAF number, which is what the manuals want, should be 43-26232.  For radios, the L-2M carried an AVR-20A receiver and either an AVT-15A or AVT-112 transmitter, and the AVA-126 power supply.
T.O. 01-135DA-1, pages 19 thru 21 give the Pilot's instruction on the radios as installed. Interestingly, it doesn't show any receiver for the M, but states that it has to be turned on prior to powering up the transmitter. Inference from the descriptions and s/n's listed, is that the L-2A and the L-2M carried the same radio package. I wasn't able to locate an IPB for complete verification though.

Just purchased an L2 basket case .. lots of parts. Lol The fuselage is not in tact and I will need to rebuild it...

and scroll down to post #7, Greg Young has hosted 4 zip files and a Word document of the L-2 drawings. They total almost 3 gigs of info.  Running thru the drawing list, I think your friend will need to be looking at drawings DCO-(A)-7050, and 7120, 7121 and 7122 for the radio installations. Pay attention to the effectivity blocks to be sure they are for his airplane. He should also pay attention to drawings D-L154 and L155 and DCO-L152, as these are engineering setup charts and may have some necessary data.
Looking forward to seeing some progress photos one of these days.

The caption mentions "Learadio".
The unit on the right looks to be the AMT-12 transmitter.  The unit on the right is not quite as clear, but I suspect it's the corresponding  AMR-12C receiver.  The full picture shows a cable going down behind the rear seat and it probably goes to the ANG-12 power supply.
Am I correct in my IDs of the radios?
