[ARC5] CQD Erie and ER Fairview PA

I've written on other reflectors that our navy ought to resurrect the use of the sextant due to the potential for GPS spoofing. While I'm at it, I'd also encourage reinstating HF into other comms used by our armed forces. You never know when a satellite jammer or killer might rear its ugly head.

Here is a PDF of pictures of CQD 372kc (top picture) and ER 349kc  (bottom) for the Erie International Airport.
Curious if anyone else logged them?
Both are QRT

Subject: Re: [ARC5] NDB’s Hi Mark,I’ll try to find those pictures.I had to walk through someone’s back yard in Fairview PA to get the picture of ER.I used to keep a log of stations and used some maps I got from the owner of Erie Airways that showed the NDB call signs andlocations. I heard a lot of Canadian NDBs across Lake Erie.I got a look inside CQD once when the engineer wasdoing some work and I happened to be passing by. No pictures though.

Hi Steve
I heard CQD 372 KC only once (5 Feb 2020 0435Z) and its last logging (by anyone) was on 11 Oct 2020, shortly before it was decommissioned.  As I recall, its operation was intermittent for the last year before it went dark.
ER 349 KC Was last heard in Feb 2016 and of course, it's long gone now.
No, those 52 stations are not new,  just "new" with the BC-453.   I have 771 NDBs in my master log (since Dec 2019), and it's unlikely I'll add many more to that.  But propagation can be fickle, and there are ships that come into the Gulf with Helipads that have shipboard NDBs....

Nice pix Mark!
I always enjoyed logging NDBs, but haven’t listened for years.
CQD and ER in Erie PA are QRT.
I have pictures somewhere.
You’ve inspired me to dig out the BC-453 and see
what I can hear!

We’re those 52 new stations for you Mark?
