[ARC5] Data plate warping fix ?

I have seen  some Navy equipment with apparently plastics blue nameplates with cracks at the corners where the fastening screws are. 
There is no solution for this, i suppose. Maybe, occurs to me, remove some of the screws that apply horizontal limits to shrinkage, "process" 
the screws so that they have no shank, and something like glue to hold the screw head and nameplate down. Or have a good replica made.
Or, none of the above. 

I have a Japanese portable, from WW2, where all the control legends are on semicircle white material, which i suppose is a form of plastic 
also. ALL these control legends are degrading and cracking into pieces.
