I'd recommend not using the Prog 2 in such situations.
Having all those "bells and whistles" (operating modes)
requires a lot of running programs and clocks.
I haven't looked lately.  Can  you still buy the
little 8-pin single freq ICs?  Way less going on
in them and I've had no trouble with RF noise from them.
