    See the Radiotron Designer's Handbook, 4th edition, beginning on 
page 1335. Similar information in Reference Data for Radio Engineers, 
4th edition, both available free on the web. I think this is clearly 
brown = 1 for multiplier, Orange = three for first two significant 
figures, value in pF, i.e. means 33pF which is what it measures. The 
other two stripes are probably voltage and tollerance but I put the 
books away.
    There were two sets of codes, RMA and JAN, there is also the IEC 
standard but I think that was later. RMA and JAN are somewhat different 
but apply mostly to mica postage stamp caps.
    There were also a couple of British standard codes. Since you are in 
Canada you may have caps that followed one of those systems. They are 
described in the Radiotron book.
