Agree with this.  The original screws were "barrel plated", which put a 
thin nickel coat on the brass that doesn't do well over time. I prefer 
the stainless - it will stay bright for longer than I will.  There is a 
black oxide coating for stainless screws from Caswell and Brownell's 
that will turn them black if you wish to use the stainless for the black 
screws.
