Plated brass are original. Stainless steel have to be painted for the black ones, but are stronger than the brass ones.Ken W7EKBSent via the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, an AT&T 5G smartphone

We had a recommendation here recently for McMaster's stainless steel 3-48 x 1/4 screws. Do you think the plated brass is a better choice?Wayne

BTW, if you need these 3-48 slotted plated brass screws, they are available in both black and nickel from McMaster-Carr. The screws I'm looking at are all the externally visible ones, when everything is assembled. They don't appear to have been put on randomly -- the darker ones I've noticed so far are only those securing that "top cover" underneath the rim of the front panel plate (the top cover has slots to allow removal of the cover without fully extracting the darker screws). It looked like they might have been deliberately done. But if it's likely not original, then I don't have to consider whether to have darker screws at the ready.
