As far as I know, Galvin / Motorola did not manufacture crystals during WWII.
Setting that up along with all the other expansion simply wasn’t possible. They
decided to set up the “empire” of little outfits making them to source their
massive needs.
They did indeed go into crystal manufacturing after the war. That ultimately
branched out into XO, TCXO and OCXO manufacturing as well. Some of
their production went into the open market. The vast majority of it was for
internal use.
