Me, for one.
It is fairly common for HF operators to give their age - particularly during CW contacts. Base on that "sample", I do talk to guys that are in their 70s and 80s, the majority of those I work on the HF bands seem to be in the 40 - 60 range.
I attend several big hamfests each year and judging by appearance, the same age distribution seems to be present.
The under-30 hams I encounter at the University and clubs seem to be less interested in on-air contacts and more into building and experimenting.
