This discussion prompted me to finally try to figure out the fittings on
the RCA AVR-7 tuning drive.

The thread is 1/2-14, which is a National Pipe Thread. A trip to Home
Depot resulted in a pair of 1/4" Brass Pipe Caps, which are a perfect
fit.

I do not know if any other RCA commercial radio gear uses this
size fitting.

Now to figure out a ferrule arrangement, probably with brass tubing.
I have some lengths of MC-215 shafting, so should be able to come up
a tuning cable for this receiver. The hardest part will probably be
figuring the tongue arrangement, with minimal backlash.

And also, this receiver has a Navy anchor stamp on the front panel, so
it does qualify as Milsurplus.
