[ARC5] What is this flex cable for ?

Funny thing about most ARB receivers you see for sale - they are almost never complete. The ARB was supplied with a “t” connector for the flex cables to accommodate 2 coffee grinder remotes, one for a pilot, one for a radio operator. Also 2 different control boxes, one for a pilot and one for a radio operator , and the pilots control box is very difficult to find. There is also a control cable that kind of looks like an old fashioned automobile carburetor manual choke cable that controls which remote is actually being used to operate the receiver. Plus the cables and headsets and all wiring with cable ends that are not all that common Most of time when an ARB is found for sale, there is only one coffee grinder and maybe the operator’s control box if there is even that, and the receiver a lot of the time is heavily modified, to the point where the restoration to original condition is just not possible.
Sounds like somebody got a great deal on those sets.

Funny thing about the ARC-5/ SCR-274. Aircraft Radio Corporation got kind of jinky with the flex cables for their radios - made them a different size than the flex cables being used with other military radios.
