I read recently that in the month of September 2022 alone we had a fatal general aviation crash almost every day of the month. Flying is a very unforgiving endeavor.

based only on my memory, over the last 4 years we have lost a CAF C-47 due to pilot error on takeoff in Texas, a P-51D that same year in Texas, the CAF Redtail Mustang run off the runway and badly damaged due to pilot error during a proficiency flight, the Collins B-17 crashed due to bad maintenance and pilot error, a restored TBM Avenger crashed at Cocoa Beach due to the pilot ignoring an oil leak and a beautiful B-25 crashed in Northern CA due to running out of fuel between two airports 20 miles apart, and now the midair of a B-17 and a P-63.

Flying is a very unforgiving endeavor but those who fly the big iron have to be held to higher standards.
