[ARC5] GF/RU with R-1/ARR-1

Who is it here that is the best versed on the 
R-1/ARR-1 when installed with the GF/RU?
Mike F.? I am being asked about it and 
I can't recall. I'm lucky to remember to 
breathe these days. I don't want to 
tell something that turns out to be wrong.

"I’m putting together a GF-11/RU-16 2 position configuration radio for the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia equipped with an R-1/ARR-1 Homing adapter. There is some confusion as to whether I need the Homing Adapter switch box with this set up. Any help would be appreciated."

I know there are installations which do and do not
use it.
