[ARC5] Heath GDO People

I don't use a GDO much as I have better ways to measure resonance but
the Millen and Measurements are weapons of choice when I need one.  Also
the Heathkit Tunnel Dipper is handy and the battery lasts forever.

About all I can say about the Heathkit GDO is that I have two that are
undergoing "transition" on my bench.  A neighbor who flips houses gave
me a bunch of stuff that came from a local ham's house, including two
Heathkit GDOs, without coils, naturally. One rattled and when I opened
it up about 2/3 of the rotor plates from the variable capacitor fell out
so that sealed their fate. That one now has about 150pF in a single gang
and will become a regenerative receiver,  the other will be morphed into
a QRP transmitter.    It's gonna be a challenge to squeeze an audio
amplifier into the receiver but the meter opening was perfect for a
small speaker so it's got to be done.  The vernier reduction should be
pretty sweet ;-)    And the little power transformer is just right for a
1-2 tube rig of some sort.

There's no lack of Heathkit GDOs in the world and they're not rare and
valuable, so my suggestion is if you've got one beating around hoping to
find a set of coils someday, give up and make it into something useful.
