You will need all 4 tubes installed , even to run as a MOPA , because the transmit tube filaments are both in series with the modulator tubes. That is, Unless you are doing the "bypass heater  wiring with 6.3 vac "  and just grounding the cathodes with  the original filament  pins as previously discussed? The cathodes and heaters are isolated in this configuration, but requires added wiring to the heaters .

Soon as I can get it done, I'll include information specific to
using 5763.  You'll need to make bias changes and the 9-pin
sockets will need to be trimmed of the excess metal
outside of the mounting nuts, else they won't fit through
the "holding rings" used for the base of the original tubes.

Also- I put a .01 uFd cap across the filament pins so
that both ends- the one to which the cathode was
connected and the other one- are at the same RF potential.
We need to discuss this issue of the cathodes of the tubes
being 6, 12 or 24 VDC above ground because of the
5763/6AQ5 cathodes being connected to one filament pin.
That should be a bias issue, but we'll talk about that
after I've got some more data compiled.

Dave, you make a good point about adding new capacitors near the circuit connection point instead of physically replacing the old capacitors.  I'm impressed how much space there is inside my BC-430.

I've received the 4-pin to 9-pin adapters I ordered from Ben, so I'll shortly be wiring those up to put 5763s in place of the missing tubes.  My thought is to do the MO and PA first and get it running as a CW rig before worrying about the modulator stage.
