I have the room so an HP-606A is a nice addition to cover the very low
frequencies. I remember getting the 606A at a defense contractor sealed
bid auction. When I picked it up, I noticed that it had no dust anywhere
inside. The aluminum fan blades were shiny clean. It simply glistened. I
figured that I hit the lottery until I turned it on. It blew fuses and
the problem was a shorted power transformer. I stuck it away on a shelf,
and only recently found a transformer to drop in it. Imagine my surprise
when I opened it up and it did not look so shiny new. Then I realized
that I had gotten it in 1982 and this was 2019! The darn thing had aged
37 years on my shelf!
They are not worth much now, but they sure do work well.
