[ARC5] A.R.C. Makes a Motorcycle Cop Radio

I have two ARC branded high band FM PYE transceivers that I pulled from PB4Y airtankers, these were channeled up on USFS frequencies.

Last used in the early eighties. Control head was a little black unit with two frequencies, volume and squelch that fit in a 3 1/8” instrument cutout.

Radios were slightly modified with 1 ATR unit base plate riveted to the bottom. Fairly nice 15W radios with a final that looked like an 8233 (can’t remember British number)

Solid state except for final.

I was at Aircraft Radio 1973 to 78. Seem to recall that they had a prior short term relationship with PYE. Don't recall seeing any PYE made stuff around then.

See how exceptional is our community? Who'da thunk we'd have an answer so quickly?

Thanks, Tom!

Hi Dave,

More information below.

I believe that is a PYE Cambridge AM10AMC (or similar) motorcycle

radio. See

https://www.qsl.net/gm8aob/pages_2/mc_cambridge.htm#AM10AMC

This helps explain the ARC label
