Are you sure of the vintage of the photo? In fact there are more "WWII"
jeeps in existence today with winches in front, machine gun mounts, radios,
etc than there were in all of Europe from 6 June '44 -July '45. The current
"collector and restorer" fits their vintage jeep with all the junk that was
possibly available back when the vehicles were in use. The best and
silliest is the length of hemp rope wound around the front bumper for use
with the winch, a PTO driven windlass type wrench. Such would not last in
actual use in the mud of France.

Subject: [ARC5] Jeeps with Radio Equipment

I just did a search for WW2 Radio Jeeps and almost the first picture that
came up was a jeep with what looked like an RU-16 receiver and a transmitter
mounted in it.

And in that same jeep, mounted where the front passenge seat would be, is a
gasoline powered generator.

By the way, somewhere I have an original WWII manual for overhaul of the
Homelite portable generator.

That search also revealed what was claimed to be an authentically restored
D-Day jeep with some kind of unknown radio equipment in it, and with a
BC-221 very prominately located in the rear.
