Robert Downs brings up a good point. Historians always caution us that one should examine why something was done not with a present day frame of reference but with the reference and the conditions at the time when the action was performed.

This discussion of surplus conversion is an ongoing topic on this group. I wish more people would operate than spend time regurgitating this topic. No wonder the bands are quiet.
