OK. "stupid" = "completely unnecessary and wasteful. All original type tubes are available
from many sources for very little money. The military had millions of them made and many of
those still exist...except for the 12SF7... And the radios work just fine when configured as
they were originally designed. 24 V supplies are very easy to get or build now"
How's that? A paragraph instead of one word....which means the same thing.
Also, FYI, every single one of the "ARC-5" receivers I presently own have been hacked,
some horribly. I have several BC-453s and/or R-23/ARC-5s hacked so that they only tune to
23.5 kHz. as an example.
"Back in the day", when cars had 6 V electrical systems, changing the tubes and rewiriing for
6 V was probably useful sometimes, but that is no longer true.
