Hi,
I have used R-23 and BC-453 receivers with 24 volt lead-acid batteries
on the tube heaters and a stack of dollar store 9 volt batteries for 90
volts B+. With a modest ~100 foot wire no more than 16 feet above ground
I received NDB and experimental 600 meter and 630 meter amateur stations
out to about 1500 miles. I have wondered what might come my way if I had
space for a *real* antenna.
Similar performance with my RAK-7.Sometimes those old radios can pull
out signals the pretty commercial gear miss.
