Hi Wayne,

Have used these UPS transformers numerous times for low volt supplies,
bucking, etc.  Use a dim bulb (incandescent light) in series with the
Variac feed.  Highest resistance is USUALLY the primary but if the dim bulb
lights, stop.  I have also been known to feed the likely primary with just
a few volts and measuring the others to determine winding ratios.
