'Air Progress' magazine, May 1943, p. 51.
I am guessing "auxiliary fields" didn't have control towers, were just paved or unpaved 
landing strips, and the "control ships" were maybe just other planes, which stayed on 
the ground, and were used only for their onboard radio equipment.
