So the story goes, most SX28 went to England, and never came back, hence the relative rarity in USA.

I agree that the SX-28 is a desirable classic shortwave receiver for all the reasons stated above. It’s up there in the same category as vintage inboard Chris-Craft wooden runabout speedboats, original Porsche 356 roadsters, 55 Chevys, and early Mustangs. Highly regarded when new, very classy styling, and they ain’t makin any of em anymore! Although you can get things like new construction Mustangs hand built by a company that bought the original tooling from Ford to make new bodies and body parts. But you’re gonna pay a hell of a lot more than what they sold for in the 60s!
My question is why do SX-88s go for such high prices?
