Gang,

I have to admit to not having read the entire thread on ground-air
comm's.  But found this interesting;

Joint Assault Signal Company (Wikipedia)
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Assault_Signal_Company_(JASCO)>these
were Army. Navy, Marine combined groups to handle comm's during landings.

Here's an interesting report
<https://archive.org/details/LoveReport4thMarineDivisionIwoJima/page/n1/mode/2up>from
the Iwo Jima operation.

They mention systems like SCR-299 (BC-610 TX etc) in half-tracks.

Didn't much like the VRC-1 jeeps because of the difficulty of putting
them on frequency.

They seemed to depend on the MZ jeep that was factory-built with a TCS
radio and suppressed ignition system.

More info an MZ HERE
<https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/74793-willys-mz-2-usmc-radio-jeep/>
and HERE <https://cj3a.info/sibling/cjv35u/radio.html>.

So, if I wanted to build a radio jeep, I's go Navy.

Regards,
Al
