I wonder what the last day will be like here. The store is still pretty full & they have several tractor-trailers of stuff they've never had room for. I don't know what they'll do with all that or even what kind of stuff it is. The actual owner is getting kinda frail.
I've bought up most of the NOS ham & table radio tubes the audiophiles didn't want. But there's still piles of used tubes. Hundreds of regulator tubes like 0A2, 6AG7s that look near new, boxful of 4CX150 (?). All manner of resistors & capacitors... So far my wife isn't giving me a dirty look for bringing boxfuls of odd bits home.

I feel your pain.  With the closing of Tanner Electronics in Carollton,
we are left with only Altex- nice people but not much surplus-
as they only "surplus parts store" left in the whole Dallas-Fort Worth
mega-plex.  I had a long talk with Jim Tanner and it isn't just
that "builders are passing."  His surplus suppliers have near
completely dried-up.   He couldn't get big lots of "stuff" anymore,
so they business was no longer profitable.  Jim and his
wonderful family retired after decades of service to the
"Builder" community in the Dallas area.  He and his are
sorely missed, but I'm glad he's in a happy retirement.
Bought a ton of electrolytics and other commonly
used parts from him before he locked the doors.
Wish I'd had the money to buy more.
Sure miss going by there every time work takes me north
on I-35E.
