[ARC5] SCR-AF-183 (was SCR-183 / 283 trans coil question)

The SCR-AF-183 is an enigma.
It's a Western Electric build right in the middle of a series
of A.R.C. builds.  By the time of SCR-AD-183 and SCR-AE-183,
many  major changes had been made to the original design.
Then along comes an order to W.E. for AF-183, which is a
throw-back to the beginning; -AB design IIRC.
I have a -AF transmitter with the paper frequency charts,
but no coil.

I don't suppose (unless I hit the lottery and live in the Archives
in Washington for 6 months) that we will ever know why
beyond speculation, but it's curious.
